Joseba Llorente is a Spanish striker.
He started playing football as a Real Sociedad player. The first game for the main squad took place on October 3, 1999 against Zaragoza however he managed to gain only 23 appearances throughout four seasons (including a loan spell to Eibar for the 2000/01 campaign).
Llorente’s next club became Real Valladolid that he joined in the 2005/06 pre-season. His first campaign resulted in 12 goals which was a personal breakthrough for Joseba but in the following season he scored 17 times thus helping his side to win promotion.
On January 20, 2008 Llorente scored the fastest goal in the history of La Liga hitting the back of the net against Esnayol on January 20, 2008.
Llorente agreed on a move to Villarreal on May 26, 2008 penning a four-year deal. The first goal came in a clash against Numancia. A month later he made a hat-trick when Villarreal overcame Aalborg Boldspilklub in the Champions League.
On March 10, 2009 a few minutes after taking the pitch as a substitute he scored against Panathinaikos FC in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. His first season was very productive as the striker scored 15 times, twice against Barcelona.
On June 16, 2010 after another splendid season as a Villarreal player Llorente moved to Real Sociedad that has just returned to the highest division. The club and the player agreed upon a 4-year deal. Joseba’s debut took place on August 29 against his previous side Villarreal. In Mid January the player was injured and was sidelined for the rest of the campaign. After a fairly unsuccessful season (35 appearances with 5 goals) he was loaned by Osasuna for the season 2012/13.
At the end of the loan spell Llorente was released from the club.
