Leroy George is a midfielder of Qarabag. He was born on 21 April 1987 in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Leroy’s youth career took off in DWS, from where the footballer moved first to Fortius, then to ZSGODWS.
In 2006, George penned a professional contract with Utrecht and made his début on 13 April 2007 in the 1-1 draw with Rotterdam side Sparta. He made another two appearances for the club during the 2007/2008 season, but the following year turned out to be more fruitful for the player, as he missed only one match due to a disqualification. The 2009/2010 season was the last Leroy’s season in Utrecht, because the footballer did not manage to show steady performance and was asked to play for the reserve team. George took part in 73 fixtures and fired eight goals for the club during four seasons.
In July 2010, the midfielder’s career was revived after NEC secured his services. The management sealed a one-year deal with Leroy and put an option in his contract to extend his spell by two more seasons if the footballer showed impressive performance.
In the second round of the 2010/2011 Eredivisie season, George was voted the best player after his stunning series of assists in the 3-5 victory over Willem II.
In the summer 2013 George moved to Azerbaijani club Qarabag.
In 2007, the midfielder was capped for the Netherlands national U-21 squad. In 2009, he received an invitation to represent the Suriname national team.
