Li Zhilang was born on 22 August 1991 in Guangzhou, China. Li started his football career at the youth academy of his hometown club Guangzhou Evergrande. The young footballer played for its youth squads of all the levels.
In 2010 Li started his professional career in football. Zhilang was mainly used as a reserve player because he lacked experience. The footballer made his debut for Guangzhou Evergrande on 25 April 2010. Nowadays Li continues to play for this Chinese side as a midfielder. Li Zhilang is one of the youngest and the most promising members of the team.
In 2009 Li Zhilang was capped for the China U-20 national football team. He participated in the 2010 AFC Championship qualification. In 2012 Li was first called up to the China U-22 national team.
