Liu Jian is a Chinese midfielder, born on 20 August 1984 in Zibo, China.
As well as many other representatives of FC Qingdao Jonoon starting XI, Liu started his football career when joined the youth football academy of the club. Liu was commonly used during the academy’s youth fixtures, as it was obvious that the player owned a really big potential. Taking into consideration his hard work on the training ground, coupled with a rapid development of his football skills, there was no surprise that the club didn’t want to lose such a prosperous homegrown talent. The first-team head coach soon offered the footballer to take part in an exhibition match, during which Liu managed to show his full potential.
Soon the midfielder signed a professional deal with the club and joined the first-team squad in 2004. His debut was not long to come as he featured during a 1-1 draw with FC Sichuan Guancheng on 19 September 2004. Being first used as a rotation option, Liu continued to do his best whenever he got a chance and scored his first goal just a few months later, helping his team to secure another 1-1 draw against FC Sichuan Guancheng on 4 December 2004. Starting from the next season, Liu became a regular first-team member and one of the most influential players at the club. The exceptional mental skills of the prolific attacking midfielder and mutual respect with his teammates soon made him the first-team captain of the club.
Since 2014 Liu has featured for Guangzhou Evergrande.
In 2007 the player first debuted with his national side, gradually becoming an integral part of the China squad. He also represented his nation during the the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign, scoring his first international goal against the Myanmar national football team.
