Luka Modrić is a Croatian halfback of London side Tottenham Hotspur and the national team.
In 2002, when he was 16, Luka signed a contract with Dinamo Zagreb, but spent only a season in the youth team. After that he was sent on loan to Zrinjski, where Luka managed to show his potential very quickly. He became the Best Bosnia and Herzegowina League Player.
The following year Luka went on loan again. His new club was Croatian side Inter, where Modrić was voted the Football Hope of the Year. In 2005 Luka returned to Dinamo and extended his contract to 2015.
According to the pre-arrangement with Tottenham Hotspur which was signed on 26 April 2008, Luka Modrić had to pass an examination before obtaining the British work permit. The contract was signed for six years.
In the summer of 2011, there was information about Chelsea being interested in Luka, but Tottenham refused to sell the player. After Euro 2012 there was further speculation on his possible move to Real Madrid but the player stayed with the London club.
