Marco Höger is a German footballer who can play both as a defensive midfielder and right back. He was born in Cologne.
Höger’s career took off in 2005, when he joined the Alemannia Aachen youth academy. In 2008 the footballer moved to the reserve team and made his first appearance on 17 August 2008 in the match against TSV Germania Windeck. Marco’s first team début came on 6 March 2010 in the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga game versus FC Energie Cottbus.
On 26 May 2010, the player signed a new contract with Alemannia till 2012. However, a year later he ended his club spell by completing the move to Schalke on a three-year deal.
Höger’s first match for the new team was on 23 July 2011 in the DFL-Supercup, where Schalke confronted Borussia Dortmund. Both teams kept the clean sheet till the full-time, but the penalty shootout crossed all t’s and the Gelsenkirchen squad ran out victorious. Marco made his start in that match and completed the full 90 minutes.
The footballer’s Bundesliga début was not that rosy, as his club was hammered 0-3 in the Bundesliga first round match against Stuttgart, though Marco played till the full-time.
