Merouane Zemmama is a midfielder of Raja Casablanca. He was born on 7 October 1983 in Salé, Morocco.
Merouane’s professional career took off in 1999, when the footballer penned his first professional contract with local Chabab Tabriquet. He spent two seasons with the club and moved to Raja Casablanca. Zemmama started to make occasional appearances for the new team, but the management decided to send him on loan to Qatar SC. After returning to his parent Raja, the midfielder took his tally to 23 matches and two goals during five years (excluding his loan spell).
In the summer 2006, Merouane transferred to Scottish side Hibernian and spent two years with the club before sealing a temporary deal with Al-Shaab. The footballer featured in 77 games and found the net ten times for his parent team during five years. In 2011, Zemmama put pen to paper of a long-term contract with Middlesbrough and fired three goals in 41 fixtures for ‘Smoggies’.
In the summer 2013 Zemmama completed a move to a Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.
From 2008, the midfielder has been capped seven times and contributed one goal for the Morocco national squad.
