A Senegalese footballer Pape Amodou Sougou, aka Modou Sougou, is a winger for Olympique de Marseille. Amodou was born on 18 December 1984 in Fissel.
When Sougou was a teenager, he started his career at AS Douanes. In 2004, the winger graduated to the main team of União Leiria. His debut senior season was lined with seven appearances made.
Modou made 27 appearances for Vitória Setúbal, after having signed from Leiria. A deal to bring back the footballer to União Leiria was finalized in 2006. He produced 6 goals in 38 matches during the stint. A spell with Académica followed, where Sougou performed from 2008 to 2011. He became a fixture in the club’s starting eleven, making 80 appearances and amassing 19 goals. In 2011, the winger was sold to CFR Cluj. He spent three years at the club, appearing 44 times and racking up 11 goals. In 2013, Modou joined the French side Marseille from Ligue 1 and appeared in 14 matches during half a season. In the season 2013/2014 the Senegalese performed for Evian on loan.
In 2008, Modou Sougou earned his first invitation to represent the Senegal national squad.
