Nicolas Lombaerts is a back of Zenit. He was born on 20 March 1985 in Brugge, Belgium. The footballer is commonly known as ‘Kolya’, ‘Niko’ or ‘Lomba’.
Nicolas’s career took off in the academy of Club Brugge. In 2004 the young player was offered a move to Belgian side Gent, where he made 36 appearances and fired one goal.
In 2007 Lombaerts penned a contract with Zenit St. Petersburg, which paid €4 million for the back. The same year Nicolas and his club clinched the title of the Russian Premier League champions.
Lombaerts received his first call-up to the Belgium national team in 2006 and made his début in the match against Saudi Arabia, coming on as a sub in the 89th minute. His first coming on the pitch in the starting line-up came only in 2007 in the game against Serbia.
