A French footballer began his professional career in 2001 playing for Stade Lavallois. Until 2007 Rémi was an integral member of the major squad making 136 total appearances for the club. Throughout 6 years spent with the team he netted 5 goals.
In 2007 Gomis received a call up from first division club SM Caen. A young midfielder signed a contract keeping him at Caen until 2009. The player was entrusted the place in the major squad; however, during two seasons he missed several matches because of the injury. In two years he featured in 53 matches scoring 3 goals.
From 2009 to 2013 Rémi played for Valenciennes FC at midfield. The player participated in 65 matches.
In 2013 Gomis moved to a Spanish club Levante but soon returned to France, joining Nantes.
Since 2008 Gomis has been capped for the Senegal national team.
