A Slovenian footballer Rene Mihelič plays as a midfielder for a Slovenian side Zavrč. He was born on 5 July 1988 in Maribor.
His youth career passed at the academy of the local club Maribor. He spent few years playing for various youth teams, before he was ready to start his professional career.
In 2005, Rene earned a promotion to the club’s first team. The debut season was lined with only rare appearances made, as the footballer didn’t have enough experience. During the following seasons, the midfielder was given more playing time, making a total of 134 appearances and 19 goals for a five-year stint at the club.
In 2010, Nacional offered a tempting contract to the footballer which suited him perfectly. So Mihelič moved to Portugal and signed a long-term contract with the club. After a short loan spell with Levski Sofia, Mihelic moved to a Slovenian club Zavrc in October 2013.
Rene used to be the member of the Slovenia U-21 team during the period from 2006 till 2010. For that period, he featured in 20 matches and netted 7 goals for the squad. It’s a tidbit that Rene Mihelič made his international debut aged only 19 setting up a record as the youngest player to be ever called up to the national team. In 2007 he was called three times to play for the Slovenia national team.
