Robert Elliot is a goalkeeper of Newcastle United. He was born on 30 April 1986 in Greenwich, England.
Elliot spent his youth in the academies of two clubs: Erith Town and Charlton Athletic. Robert finished all preparations for the start of his professional career in the latter. Besides, Charlton became his first senior club, where the goalkeeper took his skill to a new level.
In 2004 Elliot accepted an offer of his native club and penned a senior contract. Robert was sent on loan in his first season so that he could gain necessary playing experience. The keeper spent six months in Bishop’s Stortford and took part in six matches for the temporary club.
In January 2005 he went on loan as well, this time to Notts County, where he made four appearances during the second half of the 2004/2005 season.
In the summer 2005 Elliot signed a loan contract with Accrington Stanley and spent the full season there for the first time in his career, playing 23 matches. After the end of the loan spell, the management decided to extend his contract for one year till 2007.
Elliot returned from the last temporary team in 2007 and stayed in Charlton, where he made 96 appearances till 2011, when Newcastle United took an interest in the footballer and offered him a good contract. The terms of the deal suited Robert perfectly and he agreed to the transfer almost instantly. In the summer 2011 the keeper signed one more contract in his career and officially became a player of ‘The Magpies’.
