In 2000 Farelli started his professional career in Astrea where he spent the 2000/2001 season and took part in 31 matches as a first-choice goalkeeper. In the summer 2001 Siena signed a contract with a young goalkeeper, but he was immediately sent to the academy for two years to improve his skills. In 2003 Farelli was included in the Siena current squad but never appeared on a football field.
In 2004 the goalkeeper was on loan to Nocerina where he played in 10 matches.
In 2005 Farelli signed a permanent contract with Vittoria where he spent the next year. In the 2005/2006 season he took part in 11 matches as a first-choice goalkeeper. In 2006 Farelli caught the eye of Ancona and signed a permanent contract with this football club. He played for his new team only for a year, taking part in 17 games in the 2006/2007 season.
In 2007 Simone Farelli joined Lanciano, where he also spent one season, playing in 20 matches. In 2008 he moved to Crotone where he played for two years and appeared on a field 18 times. In 2010 the Italian goalkeeper signed a contract with Serie A club Siena. Farelli is a substitute goalkeeper and from time to time earns a place in the starting eleven.
