Song Wenjie is a Chinese forward, born on 15 January 1991 in Qingdao, China.
Song first mastered his skills at the youth football academy of FC Qingdao Hailifeng, which is considered as the most prestigious sports school in his hometown. In 2010 he was offered to continue his football education at another academy and joined the ranks of FC Qingdao Jonoon, where he finally got ready to the beginning of his professional career. The player had really good time studying there, as he managed to show his non-trivial talent and establish himself as a promising youngster within just a few months. By the time he left the institution he had been already offered to clinch a professional deal with the club and signed a senior contract with the side in 2010.
During the period from March to October 2010 the striker was training with the club’s first-team squad, trying to break through to the starting XI. On 31 October 2010 Song finally got his chance and made a senior debut during a 0-0 draw against the illustrious FC Shanghai Shenhua. Despite being seldomly used in first-team fixtures, Wenjie did his best whenever he got a chance. However, he had to wait until the 2011 season to get more playing time. The new club’s manager was eager to use the homegrown talents and soon the forward scored his first senior goal during a 4-1 victory over FC Nanchang Hengyuan. It proved to be a really successful season for the young talent, as he received the CFA Young Player of the Year award at the end of the campaign, netting 6 goals in 19 appearances on the way.
