Stephen Dawson is a midfielder of Barnsley. He was born on 4 December 1985 in Dublin, Ireland.
In 2004, Stephen started his professional career at Leicester City, but he was not given any opportunities to come on the pitch with the main squad of ‘The Foxes’.
In 2005, the footballer transferred to Mansfield Town and clinched a regular place in the starting line-up at once. He showed solid performance for the new club and drew the attention of many English teams, but left ‘The Stags’ only after netting four goals in 117 fixtures by 2008. In the summer 2008, Dawson put pen to paper of a contract with Bury and fired three goals in 90 matches for ‘The Shakers’ during two seasons.
In 2010, Leyton Orient secured the midfielder’s services on a long-term deal. Stephen became the pivot at once and found the net three times in 60 games for the club during one year and a half. In January 2012, the footballer sealed a deal with Barnsley and scored four goals in 39 fixtures for ‘The Tykes’ as of January 2013.
From 2005 till 2006, Dawson was capped two times for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 squad.
