Steven Gerrard is a midfielder of Liverpool F.C. He was born on 30 May 1980 in Whiston, England.
Gerrard began his football career in 1987, when he joined the football academy of Liverpool F.C., which later became his first and only club. During 11 years of training, the young midfielder became one of the best trainees in the academy’s history. He took part in youth teams of the club as a regular. In 1998 it was time for him to finish training and to become a professional footballer of native Liverpool.
In 1998 Gerrard was offered to sign his first professional contract and he immediately accepted the offer in the autumn the same year. However, Steven began to play for the main team only in the following season, when he got an opportunity to show his midfielder talent. Gerrard was the pivot of the club during ten years. He took all free kicks, corners, penalties and captained his team. In 2010 Steven suffered an injury that left him without football till 2011, when he fully recovered from his trauma, but was injured again in the match against Manchester United. Gerrard restored his health back to normal several weeks later. At the moment Steven continues to represent his club as a captain and helps it to preserve high Premier League rank.
In 1999 Steven was capped four times for the England national U-21 team and netted a goal. From 2000 to 2014 Gerrard played for the Three Lions. He took part in 114 matches and amassed 21 goals. At 2010 and 2014 World Cups he captained the national team.
