A Dutch footballer Stefanus Johannes “Stijn” Schaars plays for PSV Eindhoven as a midfielder. He was born on 11 January 1984.
He started his youth career at the academy of De Bataven, where he spent few years before moving to Vitesse. By 2003 Stijn developed into a full-grown forward, who could perform at the senior level.
In the summer 2003, Schaars signed his first pro contract with Vitesse. During his debut season the forward began to make appearances as a starter. In total, he made 44 appearances and netted 4 goals.
In 2005, the footballer caught attention of AZ, which desired to secure his services. That summer he became the club’s official member after penning a five-year contract. He appeared 129 times for the team, netting 7 goals.
In 2011, Sporting CP offered Stijn a tempting contract, which suited him perfectly. So in the summer 2011, a transfer for a term of four years was made. During the 2011/2012 season the footballer made more than 25 appearances as a starter.
Since 2013 Schaars has played for PSV Eindhoven.
Since 2006 Schaars has been called up for the Netherlands national squad 19 times.
