Zahari Sirakov was born on 8 October 1977 in the Bulgarian city Smolyan. The player started his career in FC Levski Sofia, where he trained under the guidance of a famous Bulgarian coach Emil Spasov. He gained prominence in 1999, when he scored a last-minute equalizer against FC Litex with a spectacular right-foot finish. In 2002 he had a short spell at APOEL and then returned to Bulgaria.
In 2004 Zahari joined FC Amkar Perm. Several Premier League sides made him offers, but he rejected all staying with the club. The player claimed that he is totally satisfied with his life at Perm. In 2010 he managed to notch a goal almost from the corner flag that attracted a lot of attention. In 2011 the player got 2-year prolongation of his contract with the Russian side.
Sirakov was a part of the Bulgaria national team and made 4 appearnces from 1998 to 2010.
