FC Nürnberg (Nuremberg) was founded in 1900. They are nine-fold German champions with the last triumph delivered in 1968. That year Nurnberg made a double winning clinching the Intertoto Cup as well. Nürnberg is a four-fold champion of the German Cup and two times winner of the Southern German Cup. Four times the club reigned in Oberliga Sud, and in 1907 it was the Champion of the region of Bayern.
Such players as Max Morlock, Andreas Kopke, Stefan Reuter, Toni Sahne, Angelos Charisteas and Ivan Saenko played for the team. Local players Max Morlock and Andreas Kopke became World Champions.
In 2007 Nürnberg won the German Cup but left the strongest German league one season later.
