Shanghai Shenxin Football Club, formely known as Nanchang Hengyuan F.C. is a Chinese football team located in the city of Shanghai, Jiangxi Province. The club currently performs in the Chinese Super League.
The club was born in 2003, albeit under a different name – Shanghai Hengyuan Football Club. The side started in the Chinese third division. At that time Bayi Football Team experienced severe financial distress and was on the verge of liquidation. Nanchang Hengyuan’s administrators showed interest in buying Bayi and its position in the top tier. However, they failed to achieve that as most of Bayi players had already left the club. As a result Shanghai Hengyuan purchased the youth team of Bayi and established Nanchang Bayi Hengyuan Football Club on April 2, 2004.
After the appointment of Li Xiao as a manager the team found some form and clinched the Yi League, ensuring promotion to the second division. In 2009 Nanchang Hengyuan finally made a step into the elite division. In its first season in the Chinese Super League the club flirted with relegation, finishing a lowly 13th. In the summer of 2010 the club adopted the name of Nanchang Hengyuan Football Club. After moving to the city of Shanghai the club changed its name to Shanghai Shenxin.
The team’s home ground is called Jinshan Football Stadium. Its seating capacity is 30 000 people. The club’s home colours are black’n’red shirts, red shorts and black socks. The team is currently trained by Zhu Jiong. Xu Guoliang is the chairman of Nanchang Hengyuan.
