Aleksandar Kolarov is a left back, born on 10 November 1985 in Belgrade, Serbia and playing for Manchester City.
Aleksandar’s youth career began at the Red Star Belgrade academy, where he was trained for five years. Kolarov was also playing for the youth team.
In 2004 Aleksandar was offered a professional contract with Čukarički. Kolarov was happy to start his professional career and joined the club. From 2004 till 2006 Aleksandar often took part in the matches, making 44 appearances and scoring two goals.
In 2006 Aleksandar continued his performance in Belgrade, another Serbian club. In 2006/2007 Kolarov was the key back, playing 38 games and netting five goals.
In 2007 Aleksandar was offered to transfer to Italian side Lazio. The club wanted to buy the player as they were looking for a left back that would cost a driblet of money. Kolarov accepted the offer, signing a long-term contract. The transfer cost more than $1 million. During three years with Lazio, the Serbian player made 82 appearances and found the net six times.
In 2010 Aleksandar Kolarov received a new offer, this time from Manchester City. After three years in Italy, the player became really demanded and his transfer cost rose by 25 times. The English club paid £16 million and signed a long-term contract with the Serbian, who has been playing for Manchester side ever since.
In 2007 Aleksandar Kolarov was capped for the Serbia national U-21 football team, took part in eight matches and scored two goals. From 2008 Aleksandar is occasionally invited to the Serbia national football team. He made 32 appearances as a senior international.
