Arturo Vidal is a young and perspective Chilean player, who was born in 1987 in Santiago, Chile. Since early childhood he had a knack for football, and was later sent to a sport school. Arturo was showing good results at the school and was eventually spotted by the senior coach of one of Chile giants Colo-Colo. His debut season was a success as Colo-Colo won 2006 Apertura Tournament.
The following season brought another success to the club, as Arturo contributed greatly to Cola-Cola’s winning 2006 Clausura Tournament. After two brilliant seasons, Arturo Vidal became a transfer target for one of the best Bundesliga’s clubs Bayer Leverkusen. Bayer’s Chief Executive flew to Chile personally to see Vidal and sign him with the German giants. His transfer broke the previous record as the clubs agreed on a fee of $11 million.
During 3 seasons at Bayer, Arturo was a fixture in the starting lineup and played a vital role in Bayer. In the course of his Bayer career, Arturo Vidal has developed into a universal footballer, with skills in both defense and halfbacks. But despite all the efforts, Bayer performed poorly in the championship, and it became clear to Arturo that he must move on.
In 2011 many European clubs wanted to sign Vidal, but only Juventus could spare 10.5 million Euros to get hold of a young and creative player. After the transfer, Arturo went to the Turin club to be become a regular fixture as a versatile box-to-box midfielder.
In 2007 Vidal made his debut appearance in Chile national team. He was also invited to play for the national team at 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Chile team didn’t show outstanding results, but their overall performance was above average.
In November 2011 a most unpleasant incident occurred in Arturo’s family, which could’ve undermined Vidal’s confidence. His father and aunt were both taken into custody for drug possession.
