César David Texeira Torres is a forward, born on 27 February 1991 in Salto, Uruguay.
Texeira’s career took off in Defensor Sporting, where the footballer played in the youth team. After he graduated from the academy of the club, David was sent to the reserve squad and spent one year there before making his main team début in the match against Rampla Juniors on 30 February 2010. All in all, the player featured in 22 games and found the net six times for Defensor Sporting during two years.
In August 2011, David finalized a move to Dutch side Groningen. The footballer made his first appearance for the new club on 11 September 2011 in the match against Heerenveen, and his first goal came in the fixture with Alkmaar Zaanstreek. During the winter transfer window, English side Liverpool wanted to secure the player’s services in order to create a tie of two Uruguayans – Texeira and Luis Suárez, but the deal failed. The forward made 67 appearances and fired 15 goals for Groningen before moving to an MLS side Dallas in 2014.
In 2011, David received his first call-up to the Uruguay national U-20 team for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
