Dean Marney is a midfielder of Burnley. He was born on 31 January 1984 in Barking, England.
In 1993, Dean joined the academy of London side Tottenham Hotspur and started to perform for the junior squad of the club. It took the footballer nine years to get fully ready for a professional level.
In 2002, Marney penned his first senior contract with Spurs, but had to face high competitions for a place in the starting line-up. The same year, the midfielder went on loan to Swindon Town and made nine appearances for the team during six months. In 2004, Dean performed on temporary basis at Queens Park Rangers and Gillingham, but took part only in five fixtures for both clubs during his spells. In 2005, the footballer was sent on loan to Norwich City, where he featured in 13 games during half a year. After returning to his parent Tottenham, Marney took his tally to two goals in nine matches by 2006.
In July 2006, the midfielder put pen to paper of a permanent contract with Hull City and was given a chance to make several appearances for the new team during his début season. Dean showed impressing and steady performance, which helped him to clinch a regular spot in the starting XI and fire nine goals in 125 fixtures for the club during four years.
In the summer 2010, Burnley secured the footballer’s services and saw him score five goals in 98 matches as of January 2013.
In 2005, Marney took part in one game for the England national U-21 squad.
