Florent Malouda was born on 13 June 1980 in Cayenne, French Guiana and plays as a left midfielder at Trabzonspor. Since 2004 he has played for the France national football team and was the captain of the squad at certain point.
Prior to the move to London Florent played for Châteauroux, Guingamp and Lyon. He managed to show his best performance in Lyon and became a line-up regular. In 2006/07 season he netted 10 goals in the French Championship and three goals in the UEFA Champions League. After three years in Lyon Malouda was a target for many European clubs, such as Monaco, Marseille, Real Madrid, but he opted for Chelsea in 2007.
Florent integrated in the new club at once, netting three goals in three first games. He had a lot of wonderful matches in the first half of the Championship, but got injured and had to skip a number of weeks. The injury took its toll and after recovery Malouda’s appearances grew few and far between. However, that didn’t prevent the footballer from showing great skills. In March 2009 he was voted the Player of the Premier League. After a row with the club officials Florent was sidelined for the whole season 2012/2013 and rejected a change to be able able to join other clubs. He was only released in the summer 2013. Aged 33, Malouda moved to Turkey joining Trabzonspor.
