Fredy Guarín is a midfielder for Internazionale. He was born on 30 June 1986 in Puerto Boyacá, Colombia.
Fredy’s professional career started in 2004 after graduating from Envigado youth academy and joining the club’s first team and the starting lineup. In the debut season Fredy made appearance in virtually every match of Envigado. Despite his flamboyant performance Fredy was sent out on loan to Boca Juniors.
As one of the best Latin American football clubs Boca Juniors were interested in trying out the young midfielder without spending too much. During the 2005/06 season Fredy didn’t get an opportunity to become a key player and made only 2 appearances for the club.
In 2006 Guarín was loaned out again to French Saint-Étienne. In the 2006-07 season the Colombian played 18 games and scored 1 goal. Despite his rare appearances in the starting 11 Guarín was offered to join the French club on a permanent basis and in the summer of 2006 Fredy moved from Envigado to Saint-Étienne. In the 2007/08 season the Colombian midfielder continued to play in French Ligue 1 with 18 appearances.
In 2008 Fredy Guarín caught the eye of Portuguese Porto and was swiftly sold to the new club in a deal with undisclosed transfer fee. Porto signed Guarín for 4 years but the Colombian midfielder didn’t get much playing time being used primarily as a reserve player. Starting from 2008 Fredy made more than 70 appearances and scored 11 goals for Porto.
In 2012 Fredy Guarín was loaned out and later signed on a permanent basis by Internazionale Milano.
Since 2006 Fredy has been called up to play for the Colombia national team with 36 caps and 2 goals.
