Leon Best is a striker of Blackburn Rovers. He was born on 19 September 1986 in Nottingham, England.
In 2004, Leon penned his first senior three-year contract with Southampton and went on loan at once so that to gain the necessary playing practice.
From the summer 2004 till January 2005, the footballer made five appearances for London side Queens Park Rangers. In the winter 2005, Best was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday and netted one goal in two fixtures for the team during six months. The following season, the management of the temporary club decided to extend the striker’s spell for one year, but agreed only another half-a-year move. Leon took part in 11 matches and fired one goal for Sheffield Wednesday during his second spell before being sent on loan first to Bournemouth, then to Yeovil Town, where he managed to amass ten goals in 15 games.
In 2007, the footballer sealed a permanent deal with Coventry City and found the net 19 times in 92 matches for the club during three years. In the summer 2010, Best’s performance earned him an invitation to Newcastle United, where the player clinched a regular place and became the anchor striker. Leon featured in 42 fixtures and went on to net ten times for ‘The Magpies’ during two years.
In July 2012, Best transferred to Blackburn Rovers, but almost immediately suffered an anterior cruciate ligaments injury.
In 2008, the striker was called up for one match of the Republic of Ireland national U-21 squad. From 2009 till 2010, Leon was capped seven times for the senior national team.
