Neil Taylor was born on 7 February 1989 in Ruthin, Wales. His career took off in Manchester City, where the footballer trained and performed for the youth team.
In 2005, at the age of 16, Neil continued his training in the academy of Welsh side Wrexham and penned a professional contract with the club in 2007. He made 27 appearances in the 2007/2008 season and chipped in three goals in 75 matches during his entire spell.
At the end of the 2009/2010 season his contract with Wrexham expired and Taylor transferred to Swansea City after long negotiations concerning a bid for the footballer. Neil managed to clinch a place in the main team really soon and took part in 15 games during the season despite having to skip a month due to an ankle injury. In the summer 2011, Newcastle took an interest in the footballer, who could consolidate the defense of the club. However, ‘The Swans’ refused to sell Taylor and offered him a four-year contract extension.
From 2005 Neil was capped 28 times for the Wales national U-17, U-19 and U-21 teams. From 2010 he has regularly performed for the senior national squad and made his full début in the match against Croatia.
