Scott McDonald is a striker of Millwall. He was born on 21 August 1983 in Melbourne, Australia.
In 1998, Scott started his professional performance by penning a senior contract with Gippsland Falcons, where he made three appearances during one season. The poor beginning disappointed the footballer, who decided to join Cranbourne Comets, but the situation did not change a lot, because he took part in ten fixtures and found the net three times for the new club during one year as well.
In the summer 2000, McDonald moved to English side Southampton after being scouted by the team’s representatives. The striker failed to make solid display and featured only in two games during one year and a half. In 2002, Scott performed on loan at Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth and fired two goals in 20 matches during both spells.
In January 2003, the footballer’s services were secured by Wimbledon, which saw him make only two appearances during one season. In 2004, McDonald sealed a deal with Motherwell and managed to clinch a regular place in the starting line-up of the new club. The striker became the pivot and amassed 42 goals in 108 fixtures during three years.
In the summer 2007, Scott put pen to paper of a contract with Celtic and soon became one of the top goalscorers in the league. The footballer went on to net 51 times in 88 games for the team during three years. In 2010, English side Middlesbrough secured McDonald’s services and saw him score 37 goals in 116 matches by the summer 2013 when he moved to Millwall.
From 1999 till 2004, the striker took part in 44 games and contributed 29 goals for the Australia national U-17, U-20 and U-23 squads. From 2006, he has been capped 26 times for the full national team.
