Shane Lowry is a defender, born on 12 June 1989 in Perth, Australia.
Shane’s youth career took off in the academy of Aston Villa in 2005, when the footballer left his native country in pursuit of his dream to become a pro. Lowry quickly adapted to the new atmosphere and joined the junior squad of ‘The Villans’. It took the defender four years to develop his best skills and get ready for a professional start.
In 2009, Shane penned his first professional contract, but failed to make any appearances for the club during three years. After several months with the main squad, the footballer went on loan to Plymouth Argyle and took part in 13 fixtures during six months. In 2010, he sealed a temporary deal with Leeds United and featured in 11 matches for ‘The Peacocks’ during his spell. At the beginning of 2011, Lowry was loaned out to Sheffield United, where he made 17 appearances during the second half of the 2010/2011 season.
In the summer 2011, Millwall secured the defender’s services on temporary basis and saw him take part in nine fixtures during the first half of the 2011/2012 season. The management of ‘The Lions’ decided to offer Shane a permanent deal and lodged a tempting bid for the footballer. Lowry featured in 74 games for the new club. In the summer 2014 he moved to Leyton Orient.
From 2006 till 2009, the defender was capped eight times for the Republic of Ireland national U-17 and U-21 squads due to his Irish roots. In 2009, Shane received his first call up to the Australia national team, but failed to come on the pitch.
