Yang Zhi is a Chinese goalkeeper who currently performs for Beijing Guoan. He was born on January 15, 1983 in Guangzhou, China.
In 2001 the Chinese goalie entered the youth ranks of Guangdong Youth. A year later he stepped up into the main team and managed to become a first-choice keeper. Yang Zhi made 48 starts for the club. His assured displays paved the way for a move to Beijing Guoan in 2005. He immediately established himself as the club’s number one between the posts. In 2009 the shot stopper helped the club secure the Chinese Super League title. Unfortunately, before the start of the 2012 campaign Yang Zhi picked up a grave injury that forced him to sit out the whole season.
The goalie’s fine form for Beijing Guoan earned him a call-up to the China national team. His competitive debut came against Thailand on August 10, 2006. After the appointment of Gao Hongbo as the head coach of China in 2009, Yang Zhi became a first-choice goalkeeper.
