Arsenal have signed Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United to replace Bacary Sagna.

Since Bacary Sagna’s departure for Manchester City, Arsene Wenger has been looking for a full-back to fill in the void and now he’s found a replacement in another Frenchman, Mathieu Debuchy.

The 28-year old only arrived to Premier League in January 2013, after ten seasons with Lille, and has established himself as a prominent right-back. He made 46 appearances for Newcastle United and has been capped for France national team since 2011.

Debuchy told Arsenal’s official site:

“I’m very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the whole world. I’m looking forward to working with Arsene Wenger and to helping the team build on last season’s FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.”
