Arsenal target Grenier expects signing new contract with Lyon

Arsenal long-term target Clement Grenier is in talks over the extension of his current deal with Lyon.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has recently revealed he would fancy a move to the Premier League with Arsenal being his preferable option. He said: “I have more or less made a decision about which club I want to join. I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all. Arsenal? It could well be them. There would be competition for places, but you get that at all big clubs and it does not stop me making my decision.”

However Lyon are determined to retain the services of their talented midfielder and offered a one-year extension to his current deal, which is due to expire next year. Ligue 1 side hope the player will stay at the club beyond the World Cup in Brazil next year. After teammates urged Grenier to stay at the club he changed his mind about leaving the club and agreed to conduct negotiations over a new contract.
