Aston Villa keen to hold onto Benteke

Aston Villa hope they can persuade their prolific forward Christian Benteke to stay at the club for another season, should they manage to avoid relegation this season.

Christiano Benteke scored 15 Premier League goals and clearly deserved the signing of the season title, since joining for £7million from Genk in summer. His impressive performances have fuelled the attention of the host of top Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Man City and the Villians are facing the perspective of losing their player in summer.

Although Aston Villa know they could receive more than double they paid, they are keen to hold onto player’s services for at least one more season it they retain their Premier League. They are ready to significantly increase his salary if the player helps the club to stay in the top-flight.
