Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole signs for Aston Villa after leaving West Ham United.

The 32-year old former England international was released by West Ham United at the end of last campaign. Cole spent youth years with the Hammers and embarked on his senior career at Upton Park. In 2003 he was snapped by Chelsea and spent seven seasons with the Blues. Later on he had spells with Liverpool and Lille, before signing another contract with West Ham. Joe Cole was released last month and now joined the Villans as a free agent.

“It is a massive opportunity for me, I am delighted to be here”, said the experienced midfielder.
“I spoke to the gaffer and we agree on a lot of things - playing in centre midfield sold it to me.
“They have a lot of young lads who will kick on, so I am really excited to be here. I will try and make some goals and score some goals. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
