Aston Villa sign Luna from Sevilla
Aston Villa have completed the signing of defender Antonio Luna from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee.
22-year-old Spanish left-back made just four appearances for the senior Sevilla side, before being sent on a season-long loan to Real Mallorca, where he made 17 outings. Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert decided to sign the player as he has bags of potential and could develop into quality player, according to his scouts’ reports.
Luna said he is happy to have received an opportunity of playing against high-profile opposition. He said: “I’ve always believed that I could play in the Premier League and to have this opportunity with a club as historic and huge as Aston Villa and with a manager who is building a squad of young players with great prospects is tremendously exciting for me.”
“I really can’t wait to get started and to play my first game. I have a great expectation coming here,” he added.
Luna’s capture is Lambert’s came just two days after the arrival of striker Nicklas Helenius from Aalborg. Aston Villa have also snapped up Leandro Bacuna and Jores Okore last week.
