Atletico Madrid Courtois thinks Benteke is ideal signing

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who joined the La Liga club on a season-long deal from Chelsea, believes his countryman Benteke could be an ideal signing to fill in the void left by the departure of Radamel Falcao.

Goal-machine Radamel Falcao has joined Monaco in a record-breaking €60 million deal and Atletico Madrid are actively looking for a player who could fill in the Columbian’s boots at Vicente Calderon.

Atleti are looking to add a quality striker to team up with a young forward Leo Baptistao, signed from Rayo Vallecano earlier this week. Aston Villa forward Benteke, who impressed both the fans and the pundits with a series of outstanding performances this season, is reportedly topping Simeone’s wish list.

Courtois believes Benteke has what it takes to replace Falcao. He said: “He’s a very strong centre-forward, tall, but with very good technique and skilful with the ball at his feet. I think that he could be a great signing for Atletico. During these days with the national team and I’m going to ask him about his future.”
