Bryan Robson: Scholes could retire at the end of the season
Manchester legend Bryan Robson believes veteran midfielder Paul Scholes is set retire at the end of the season due to knee injury.
The 38-year-old Paul Scholes has retired in May 2011 however he reversed his decision half-year later, after Sir Alex Ferguson asked him to return. He has made 19 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring one goal; should he not be plagued by the injuries this season, he could have made even more first-team starts.
Ex-Man Utd captain Bryan Robson revealed Scholes is unlikely to follow Giggs’ path and play two seasons more, as he is not fit enough. He said: “Giggsy has got another year, but he looks as fit as he was when he was 21. Scholesy I’m not so sure about. He’s been having a few problems with his knee. So I think he might just call it a day. Only he can answer whether or not he may register again in case of emergencies. But because of his attitude and the way he goes about training it is good to have him around the place.”
