Bundesliga results: Bayern capture the crown

Bayern Munich clinch the Bundesliga title on the weekend setting the record for the earliest domestic triumph.

The Munich-based side confirmed their golden medals with a 1-0 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt. German international Bastian Schweinsteiger netted a decisive goal to earn the club their 24th win from 28 Bundesliga matches this term and catch their first major silverware since May 2010.

The top team started in a frantic manner as David Alaba missed a 26th-minute penalty firing wide as Thomas Mueller was brought down in the area, but it was Schweinsteiger who flickered the ball into the net with a neat backheel on 52 minutes to grant the Jupp Heynckes side their 23rd domestic title.

Second standing Borussia Dortmund that won the league in each of the last two seasons claimed a 4-2 victory at home to Augsburg.
