Chelsea Courtois keen on another loan spell at Atletico Madrid

Chelsea Courtois keen on another loan spell at Atletico Madrid

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibault Courtois would prefer the third loan spell at Atletico Madrid over the return to his parent club.

The highly-rated Belgian has spent two seasons at the Vicente Calderon, helping his team to compete for Champions League qualification spot this season and leading them to Europa League title last year.

Courtois set a new Atletico club record, playing 820 minutes without conceding a goal at Vicente Calderon.

The 21-year-old stalwart is yet to make his first appearances for the Blues, despite joining the club back in 2011. However the player revealed he would rather stay at Atletico for a third loan-spell and enjoy the first-team football, than warming the bench and waiting for a chance to replace Petr Cech. Courtois revealed: “I am happy, I like my life here, my ¬team-mates. It is not just my decision, Chelsea and Atletico also have to talk. But everyone knows I like it here and, if I can, I want to stay.”
