Europa League preview: Olympique Lyon vs Tottenham Hotspur

Europa League preview: Olympique Lyon vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham won 2-1 in the first leg at the White Hart Lane with Bale scoring two brilliant free-kicks. The draw would be enough for the Spurs to progress, however this would certainly be no walk in the park for them.

Lyon playmaker Yoann Gourcuff is set to miss the encounter because of hamstring injury. Clement Grenier could replace Malbranque in the midfield after scoring a brace against Bordeaux on Sunday.

Andre Villas-Boas has decided to include veteran stalwart Brad Friedel instead of first-choice Hugo Lloris, who could be extra-motivated to deliver his best performance against the former team. Hitman Jermain Defoe remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury, but is widely expected to be back next week. Kaboul, Sandro, Huddlestone (all knee) are on the team’s long-term injury list.
