Fulham plotting a double swoop for Villa’s Lowton and Roma’s Stekelenburg
Fulham are seriously considering the possibility of bringing Aston Villa defender Matthew Lowton and out-of-favour Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to the Graven Cottage.
Fulham’s scouts have been watching the versatile Aston Villa defender Matthew Lowton in action over the last several weeks and their reports to such an extent impressed the Cottagers boss Martin Jol, he decided to bring the talented player to London. However the Cottagers will face a stern opposition from the side of Arsenal, who are also said to be keen on securing the services of the 23-year-old. Relegation-strugglers Aston Villa may be willing to part ways with their valuable asset for £5 million, should they lose their top-flight status this season.
Fulham continue negotiations over the potential £5million move for Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, who was on the brink of joining the Cottagers in January, and hope to finalize the deal next month.
