Hertha Berlin won promotion to the Bundesliga

Hertha Berlin have secured the return to the top-flight after beating Sandhausen 1-0 Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s late goal was enough for Hertha Berlin to record a win over Sandhausen and open up a 14-point gap over third-placed Kaiserslautern, which is impossible to bridge with 4 games to go. Two teams in German second tier are promoted automatically, while the third-placed side moves into play-offs according to the regulations.

Berlin has been the only major European capital without a top-flight club this season and this deviation will be corrected next season.
