International friendlies’ results: Brazil 2-2 England

International friendlies’ results: Brazil 2-2 England

England battled to a well-deserved 2-2 draw with Brazil thanks to marvelous second-half goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wayne Rooney.

England showed a battling spirit and excellent performance to deliver a fight against technically accomplished Brazilian side. Despite the hosts clearly dominating the opening half they failed to convert numerous chances in goals, as Joe Hart produced an outstanding performance to keep Brazil attackers at bay. However even England and Man City goalie was powerless to prevent Fred from breaking the deadlock in the 57th minute, as he buried a rebound in the back of the net after Hernanes’ long-range shot hit the bar. Then Roy Hodgson’s men managed to pull themselves together in the second half and score two beautiful goals. First, Ox scored with an excellent low strike from just outside of the penalty area in the 67th minute, and then Rooney gave England the lead with a marvelous finish from 20 yards. Paulinho leveled the scoring with a volley into the corner of the net 8 minutes before the final whistle.

Elsewhere Germany suffered an eyebrow-raising 4-3 against USA, while Republic of Ireland demolished Georgia by 4-0.
