Jagielka set to miss England games against Montenegro and San Marino

Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka will be out of England World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and San Marino after picking up an ankle injury in Toffees game against Reading.

In order to feature in Hodgon’s first XI in the forthcoming games, Jagielka would have to be played in Premier League encounter against the defending champions Manchester City on March 16. However the medical assessment revealed the injury is serious and he is set to be on the sidelines for up to three weeks.

The 30-year-old defender was taken to hospital where he underwent a minor surgery, following the horrendous tackle by Reading’s Le Fondre. There were fears the player could miss the rest of the season, however there was no bone damage, which means he could be back into action for a game against Stoke City on March 30.
