Liverpool Gerrard delighted with Coutinho’s impact

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard revealed he is happy with the recent performances of new signing Philippe Coutinho.

The 20-year-old midfielder can be considered a an excellent addition to Liverpool squad, as he has settled quickly to a pacey Premier League style of football since joining the Reds from Inter for £8.5 million in January.

Although Coutinho is yet to play full 90 minutes for Liverpool, he has already netted a goal and set up another two in 202 minutes spent on the pitch. Gerrard said he is impressed with the impact made by Coutinho. “He’s got moments of magical brilliance. I think you’ll see the best of him next season when he gets a full pre-season under his belt and gets used to the speed of the game. What he has shown for 55 or 60 minutes is that he’s a top player and he belongs in a Liverpool shirt. If we can get that for 90 minutes from him next season then he’s going to be a great asset for us.”
