Liverpool to make a switch for Wigan Al Habsi

Daily Mirror informs Liverpool are set to launch a bid for Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, as they refuse to overpay for their previous prime target Stoke City Asmir Begovic.

Liverpool first choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been frustratingly inconsistent this season and with the news that Barcelona are interested in bringing him to Camp Nou, Liverpool are keen to cash in on their player. However they are determined to find a replacement first.

Wigan Al Habsi emerged on Liverpool radar after they were scared away by the £15-million price-tag slapped on Begovic by his club Stoke City. Currently Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers trying to rebuild his side and is determined to look for value in the transfer market.

Al Habsi has helped Wigan to stay in the top-flight for two seasons, however should the Latics be relegated this year the Omani could be offloaded in summer.
