Liverpool reached an agreement in principle to sign Celta Iago Aspas
Liverpool have reached an agreement in principal to make a switch for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, with a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £7.7 million. Aspas will move to Anfiled, as soon as all the paperwork will be completed.
Aspas came through the ranks of Celta youth academy before signing his first senior contract in 2006. He made an incisive breakthrough in Spanis side’s first XI in 2009 and has never looked back since.
The 25-year-old Spaniard netted 12 goals in 34 outings for Celta this season, helping his side narrowly avoid relegation. The forward has contributed to 51 per cent of team goals.
Should the deal be completed, this will be second Rodgers’ transfer of the summer transfer window, after signing of Kolo Toure on a free transfer.
