Man City 2-0 Chelsea: Hart heroics inspire City to victory

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart was at his very best in the game against the closest Premier League table rivals, inspiring the Citizens to victory with a penalty saved.

Despite the first half being closely contested, Man City were slightly better side and probably deserved a goal prior to half-time. Chelsea skipper Frank Lampard has got an excellent opportunity to break the stalemate in the 52nd minute of the game, when Joe Hart brought Demba Ba down in the penalty area. However the England goalkeeper managed to redeem himself with a brilliant save from the Lampard’s penalty. In the post-match conference Mancini claimed that the penalty saved by Hart in the 51st minute has been the game’s breaking point.

Yaya Toure has scored the opener with an excellent finish into the bottom right corner in the 63rd minute. Carlos Tevez rounded off the scoring with a screamer from just outside of the area in the 87th minute of the game.

Chelsea loss saw them trailing second-placed City by seven points, while the Citizens, as Mancini claims, are still in the chase of the Premier League title. Man City boss said: “I think for us now it is not important to look at the table. Only to continue to work like today, to play well, to improve and to look at the table in one month, 40 days. In football, it is finished when it is finished, the last minute of the last game. If we arrive at four games to go with United 12 points ahead, it is finished but I think our job is to continue to work.”
