Napoli Hamsik relishes an opportunity to play under Benitez
In-demand Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik revealed he is determined to stay at the club and play under new manager Rafa Benitez.
The 25-year-old Slovakian made a move to Napoli from Brescia in 2007 and has quickly established himself as indispensable member of the squad. He helped his side to transform into one of the most feared attacking teams in Europe. He said: “For six seasons we’ve developed together, Napoli and me. We can still climb even higher. I’m comfortable here and I’d like to continue to grow with Napoli.”
Hamsil has long been linked with a move to a host of top European sides. Following his impressive performances this season, media have been comparing the Slovakian with ex-Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved. Asked if he considers such a comparison to be fair, Hamsik replied: “Me, Nedved? That’s kind as he worked in midfield but could also score goals. But, I also like players such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Zinedine Zidane.”
